DESCRIPTION:Altitude defines this race. Thin air cuts downforce and cooling efficiency\, so teams run maximum wing and still slide\, while brakes and power units work far harder than usual. The long run from the grid to the first braking zone produces one of the most chaotic openings of the season\, which makes first lap and early incident markets as interesting as the outright. Slipstreaming works well on the long straight\, so track position is less sacred than at tighter venues and strategy can be aggressive. \nThe Mexico City Grand Prix is a round of the Formula 1 world championship run on a permanent circuit that mixes long straights with a slow\, twisting middle sector and a tight stadium section. The programme covers practice\, knockout qualifying and the race\, with points for the top ten. \nThe same thin air that costs downforce also cuts drag\, so cars reach some of the highest top speeds of the season despite running the biggest wings they own. Braking is the other consequence: with less aerodynamic help slowing the car\, stopping distances stretch and lock ups are common at the end of the straights. Off the racing line the surface is dusty and low grip\, which punishes anyone forced wide in a fight. The closing stadium section is tight\, slow and noisy\, and time lost there is hard to recover.
