DESCRIPTION:For tyres this is one of the harshest circuits on the calendar. Fast\, flowing medium and high speed corners load the sidewalls continuously\, and stint lengths have had to be capped for safety\, which turns strategy into an arithmetic problem rather than a free choice. Track limits at the exits of those quick corners produce repeated warnings and penalties\, so the classification can still change after the flag. Grip evolves sharply as sand is cleared from the racing line\, which flatters some cars in practice more than in the race. \nThe Qatar Grand Prix is a round of the Formula 1 world championship staged on a permanent circuit built around long\, sweeping corners and run under floodlights. The programme follows the usual pattern of practice\, knockout qualifying and the race\, with points for the top ten. \nBecause the lap strings quick corners together with only a couple of genuine braking points\, passing usually has to happen on the main straight\, and a driver who cannot close up through the preceding sequence rarely gets a second chance. When stint limits apply\, everyone runs a similar number of stops\, so pit crew work and the traffic met on rejoining decide more places than raw pace. The field tends to bunch after each wave of stops. Physically it is punishing in humid air\, and fatigue shows up late as small errors.
